A Perfect Meal - even when you don't get home until 7pm

Richard's brother Kenny is in town for the night and I had to work all day and drive up to Sonoma so originally I said, we'll just have to go out to dinner. Well, at lunch today I was at the Ferry Building and since it was such a nice day I said, ok, let's just get some stuff to throw on the grill. This turned out to be one of the best dinners we've had in a while! It was really simple, just good ingredients which makes all the difference. First we got a Prather Ranch Ribeye and did Kenny's Italian friend's recommendation. First, pound the ribeye until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Then salt & pepper and drizzle a good quality balsamic vinegar (Bariani's)- only a couple teaspoons at most, you don't want it soaking in it. Heat your grill until it's really hot then drizzle the steak with a little olive oil and grill about 2 min. per side - just a quick sear - you want it to be rare! Then we grilled the dry asparagus for a couple min, or until it got some grill marks. When they came off I drizzled with olive oil, lemon juice and sprinkled with some parmesan. I baked some potatoes and topped with butter and the sour cream with peppadew peppers. We also grilled a few fresh shrimp from the fish market and topped with some garlic butter. Last, but nowhere near least, were the sauteed morels. John from Far West Fungi gave me a small basket of fresh morels (I've never tried them before!) First, make sure you cut them in half and thoroughly rinse them - as they have a lot sand - then I sauteed them in butter for about 5 min, then deglazed the pan with some Madeira wine and then a splash of cream. This we served next to the steak - wow - they were amazing - it all was!!! And Kenny fell in love with the bottle of Pinot Noir from Crush Pad! We are so sated. What a perfect meal.
