Crookneck Squash - really?

I'm feeling pretty lucky - even though we live in the City, I've got neighbors giving me home-grown vegetables! Wendy brought over this squash that she said was a summer squash called crookneck. I said - no way that's a gourd! So, Wikipedia to the rescue - and she was right! I'd never seen one before that was so warty! She said, just slice it, un-peeled, and roast with olive oil s&p - I did for about 20 min and it was good - more flavor and texture than your normal summer squash - reminded me of a cross with a winter squash. Tonight I'm trying the big end with the seeds removed and roasted in halves... Learn something new everyday!
