I love this saying - not sure exactly where it comes from (other than The Big Lebowski) but I know exactly what it means. When making my ketchup the other day I decided to try sterilizing the jars by keeping them in a warm 250 degree oven. What I didn't realize was that the little tops were made of plastic instead of ceramic like I thought. Needless to say I had to go to the store for more jars - today, the bar ate me.

Sometimes you eat the bar, sometimes the bar eats you.

It's actually old western slang for bear. ;)
ReplyDeleteReally?! That makes more sense - so should I be spelling it bear? I guess in Northern California we could say "sometimes you eat the shark..."
